Hot stamping is widely employed in the surface decoration of various products to enhance their added value. Specific application scenarios include book covers, gift boxes, greeting cards, invitations, business cards, cigarette packaging, wine labels, pharmaceutical packaging, and cosmetic packaging. Among printed cigarette packaging, the application of hot stamping techniques accounts for over 85%. Hot stamping primarily serves two functions: surface decoration and endowing products with enhanced anti-counterfeiting capabilities; it is frequently combined with technologies such as holographic registered stamping for use in brand logos and trademarks. As the visual effects produced by hot stamping serve to heighten a sense of visual depth and layering, the technique is also commonly utilized in the packaging design of high-end gifts and luxury goods.
Hot stamping can be performed on a wide variety of substrates, including paper (such as coated paper, white cardstock, etc.), plastics (such as PE, PP, PVC, and ABS), leather, and wood. With advancements in technology, it is now possible-through the use of specialized adhesives-to directly hot stamp metallic foil onto the surfaces of glass products.
